We all love our hair color right out of the salon, but between shampooing, styling, and sun exposure, that vibrant color inevitably fades and dulls. How can you keep your hair color from fading and becoming dull in between salon visits? Here are a few tips that are sure to brighten up your day.
- Start with a post-coloration treatment to protect hair and help boost radiance and shine. Try Kerastase’s Chroma Perfect 1 or Chroma Perfect 2.
- Shampoo hair with shampoo specifically formulated for color-treated hair. Try Kerastase’s Bain Miroir 1 or Bain Miroir 2 or Bumble and Bumble’s Color Support line in Golden Blonde or True Reds. Make sure you rub the shampoo into your scalp then rinse immediately. Do not use hot water to rinse as hot water will cause your color to fade faster.
- Apply conditioner to ends and work the remaining amount onto the lengths, avoiding the roots. Use a rich conditioner formulated for color-treated hair. Leave conditioner on for about 3 minutes and do not stand directly under the water for the remainder of your shower.

- Make sure you protect your hair from heat styling appliances and the sun’s UV rays.
